In coming up with ideas for heroes for the Naval Vanguard initiative, we look to the public domain, and also draw inspiration from the public domain and the unused characters at the bottom of the toy box who are long overdue for a retcon and update as the grand children and great grand children of the 20th Century's long forgotten heroes. In addition to the legacy heirs of yesterday's generic heroes are the legacy heirs of the generic villians and heroes (for some, like The Spider Queen, will definitely be switching sides). The key to making all these characters worthy of inclusion will be their backstory and making them realistically fit into a 21st Century technological driven world, much like Luz, The Spider Queen, and the new Blue Bolt are being designed to fit in to the real world where both magic and technology collide.
